Best behaviours

Freemasons Victoria members are constantly striving for best possible behaviour.

This particularly applies to use of social media, for which established guidelines and Constitutional rules are in place.

This is a friendly reminder about some of the rules that apply in our fraternity, particularly with media platforms such as Facebook.

Rule 287 provides that no Brother shall print or publish or communicate to any person any of the business or proceedings of any Lodge or other Masonic gathering (except gatherings members of the public are entitled to attend).

As members, we agree when we join that no such matters will be discussed without the consent of the Grand Master, anything which by Masonic law or custom should not be published.

“Nor shall any Brother publish or circulate any document relating to any case of Masonic complaint before the regularly constituted authorities, until after final adjudication thereon, and then only if the same be proper to be published according to Masonic law or custom.”

In lifting our behavioural/cultural expectations, the cooperation of all members in abiding by our rules is deeply appreciated. By being on our best behaviour, we are building an even better Freemasonry.

Fraternally,

RWBro. Garry Runge OAM JP
Grand Secretary
